Let Claude read Instagram. Profiles, reels, transcripts, comments and ads, as tools. Set up in under a minute.

01Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
02Name: Instadata. URL: https://mcp.instadata.dev.
03Click Connect and sign in. Claude handles OAuth.
04Enable the connector in a chat from the tools menu.

Check it works.

"List the Instadata tools you have, then get the profile for @nasa."

Claude calls list_endpoints (free), then get_profile (1 credit). The call shows up in the dashboard logs with its request id.

What Claude does well.

Reels"Transcribe @nasa's last 5 reels and list every mission mentioned." Uses get_channel_posts and get_transcript.
Summaries"Summarize this reel in two lines." Uses get_summary.
Commentsget_comments. "Summarize sentiment on this post. Quote the three most-liked negatives."
Vetting"Check follower count, posting cadence and recent collabs for these 10 handles."

Keep context small.

Claude has a context budget. Tools accept fields= to return only what you need, and transcripts accept format=text. Ask Claude to use them: "only fetch caption and like_count."

Cost.

$5 per 1,000 credits. 25 free credits on signup, no card. Most reads are 1 credit. Transcripts are 1 credit for the reel + 20 per started minute. Failed calls are free. Pricing

Questions.

Does Claude need my Instagram login?

No. Instadata reads public data. No login, no Meta app.

Is OAuth required?

No. OAuth is the easiest path. A bearer key works everywhere.

Does this work with Claude's API / Agent SDK?

Yes. Any client that speaks remote MCP over streamable HTTP can pass the URL and a key header.

Is this made by Anthropic or Meta?

No. Instadata is independent.
